About FIA Region I

FIA Region I President, Werner Kraus, together with FIA Region I Director General, Jacob Bangsgaard, in the FIA Region I offices in Brussels.
FIA Region I is responsible for the mobility activities of the FIA in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, supporting the more than 100 Automobile Clubs in the region from its new headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.
The FIA Region I office aims:

Firstly, to provide strong representation of European Member Club interests towards the European Union institutions - for example on road safety, consumer protection, environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable motoring;

Secondly, to build up links and support the exchange of best practices between our 104 Member Clubs across Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and;

Thirdly, to launch new campaign activities together with the Clubs throughout the region such as the launch of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety.
The FIA Region I office is made up of three bodies:
The European Bureau of the FIA Eurocouncil
The European Bureau of the FIA Eurocouncil provides representation to European Member Clubs within the European Institutions. The work of the bureau, guided by the Clubs, consists of monitoring the work of the institutions, developing common platforms for the work of the Clubs, and ensuring that our message is heard in Brussels and Strasbourg. Additionally, we also engage in a number of programmes and projects, such as EuroTest, which further the interests and goals of our members and the federations.
African Council of Touring and Automobile Clubs (ACTA)
The African Council of Touring and Automobile Clubs (ACTA) formally became a sub-region of FIA Region I in early 2008. The African Council aims to improve the range of services provided motoring tourists and travelers in the African region.
Arab Council of Touring and Automobile Clubs (ACTAC)
The Arab Council of Touring and Automobile Clubs (ACTAC) formally became a sub-region of FIA Region I in early 2009. The goal of ACTAC is to unite the Arabic speaking FIA clubs of the region to shape the future of motoring throughout the Arab world.
